Porsche Design launching personal navigation system
No official word from Porsche, but rumors have Porsche Design teaming up with navigation software specialists Navigon AG to launch a Porsche Design personal navigation product, the P9611.
The sleek device sports a 480 x 272 pixel touchscreen, a built-in traffic news radio receiver and Bluetooth communications capability. The 9611 is based on an Intel XScale 520 MHz cpu running Navigon's upcoming MobileNavigator 6 software.
Expect an October launch for the product in Europe, preceded by the usual round of press and tradeshow introductions. The 9611 will carry a price commensurate with its Porsche Design label - expect to shell out around $950 (€ 749)

Put your Porsche design GPS in your Ferrari Enzo because the Prancing Horse isn't equipped with one. Brilliant. Put it in your 911 Turbo as a backup to the one already there. Even better.

Enzo Wipe OUT #3….At a road rally here in Utah today, car collector Dick Losee wrecked his Ferrari Enzo (see ROad & Track July 2003)….I mean totalled it. He is in stable condition after being life-flighted to the hospital. The ENZO is shredded. I spoke with the UHP Trooper who was behind him when it happened. The Trooper said that the car flipped multiple times and was able to capture the incident on the digitle camera in his new Challenger police car. He said the image, however, looks like a big dust cloud and you can barely see the car. He'll see if he can't zoom in on the image later. I'm curious to see if this Enzo incident will be as big new as the LA and Tokyo accidents. By the way, the UHP had closed different roads down over the course of this rally. The UHP had closed this section of road down in Southern Utah when the accident occured. The road was a straight away that had hills and dips. Apparently the car was coming over the crest of one of the hills when it caught air before flipping nose over tail multiple times. The fastest car that got clocked by the Utah Highway Patrol during the event was a 2006 RUF RT12 at 206 mph. (The driver was a race car driver that works for RUF factory out of Texas.) Email me if you would like pictures of the surviving cars that made it to the end of the rally.

Ummm, the Enzo doesn't need a GPS since it's a true driver's car. Porsche Turbos, on the other hand, are for posers and doctor's wives, for the most part.
Another thing. With that mount, the GPS is illegal in one of Porsche's biggest markets, California. Good thinking. :/

Ratfink, PLEASE. Ferrari Enzo is a drivers car. That's just rich. Apart from the one that just met its end in Utah, I am willing to bet 350 of the 400 Enzo's produced will see 100 years old before they see 100,000 miles. Driver car my ass. Can an Enzo even reach 100,000 miles without 2-3-4 engine rebuilds.
I will admit the same can be true for most Porsche turbos, there are more "drivers" in the Porsche world than in the Ferrari world.
