Pimp My Heart
Here it is, folks, this is what you get for the tuner who has everything. Introducing the "Pimp My Heart," a system that uses sensors in the steering wheel to gauge your heart beat as you drive and subsequently pump said heart beat through your car's audio system for the ultimate beats. Using his Heart Beat Bass Booster, inventor Takehito Etani offers up "Pimp My Heart" for the "ultimate unity between car and driver."
The concept takes a look at bass thumping, its role as a marker of territory and "psychological armor," and asks some questions. What if the bass sounds are the driver's real-time heart beat instead of beats of music? Does our relationship with the vehicle/driver and the pedestrian change?
Sounds very academic, eh? While we wonder if dear Takehito has too much time on his hands over there at Carnegie Mellon, it's kind of a cool trick for the car that has everything -- it takes bass thumpin' to a whole new level.

What a useless and stupid idea. Does anyone actually find the concept appealing?

Not something i'd ever buy, but it's very different to say the least.

i go to cmu and saw his project in action on a show-car cavalier. it was pretty sick in terms of the bass beating to your heartbeat. gotta see it to really see how trick the concept is...

You could do something similar for brainwaves - engineer a feedback loop where a certain noise triggers a certain brainstate, and that brainstate in turn triggers that noise.
It'd be fun, but totally useless on the road, I agree.

Would be nice if you added this link to the source Fresh Creation:

PS The Fresh Creation post also shows the video of Pimp My Heart which the website of the creator doesn't have. Or he has hidden it somewhere on the site... :-) Adding a link 'Watch the video of Pimp My Heart' to the post above would be a good idea.

Forget the fancy electronics. Just drive around with stethoscope taped to your ears and chest. Similar result, but much cheaper.

Brainwaves, hmmm?
For the "gotta have neighborhood shaking to be cool crowd" the silence would be...deafening.

Take that heartbeat signal, turn it into a midi clock signal, and feed that signal to a synth, and booyaka, instant heartbeat techno in your (what looks like) xB

If you look at the creator's webpage, you'll notice that the system not only turns your heartbeat into bass hits in the car, it can also sync music to your heartbeat. So, you can pick a song you like, and the beat of the song syncs itself to your heartbeat. Kind of interesting...I wonder what it would be like to use a program like this on your iPod while you work out!

Funny how they used a Scion XB silhouette to point out the various functionalities.
