Toyota Human Touch ad is gripping
Long considered a top tier carmaker with vehicles that are reliable and dependable, but perhaps lacking some soul, Toyota has put together an ad that hopes to address that concern. Called "Human Touch," it shows us how actual human beings are involved in all of the clever features that make a Toyota a Toyota. And it's the first time a Toyota commercial has made us smile, let alone laugh.
Funny and only slightly creepy, the ad features no dialogue but follows a Toyota driver as he gets into his car for a short trip across town. Along the way we see ergonomics in action as actual human beings replace some of the mechanical features on the car. We also pass other Toyota owners experiencing similar interactions with their vehicles. Wipers, airbags, trunk light and speakers... too funny. Watch it and see for yourself.
Thanks for the tip, Derrick!

Nissans have a heart, Toyotas have a brain, and Hondas have a soul.

2. Nissans have a heart, Toyotas have a brain, and Hondas have a soul.
What about Mazda? Mazda has the wankel (not to mention the best selling sports car ever), which is like the pride of japan (even though they didnt invent it).
I'd rather have the pride of japan, than the brain, soul or heart alone. :D

The only creepy part for me was when he grabs a purse out of the trunk at the end. What does that imply?

Since someone already mentioned Mazda.. if you think that's a touching look at a corporate identity, look at this mazda brand essence video. It's amazing, I tear up when I watch it.

that being said, yes I'm a Mazda fanboy (hence my name on here "kansei" is roughly translated as "it just feels right").

Ok, Some parts are preatty funny. Guys whisling in the speaker wells, check. Guy manualy opperating the windshield washers, check. Guy opening the truck for you, check. Guy with a whistle oppering the back up system, check.
But the customer just sitting on the lap of anouther guy, and having some guys sitting in the foot well ready to blow the airbags into his crotch.... Well that struck me for lack of a better term, as gay. Im sure Toyota saw it as quite asexual when it was devised... but people tend to look into things at all sorts of angles when they are not the producers. It also does not help the guy had what appeared to be a man purse.
Thats precisely why I hate advertising. If you buy a Hummer, people think you questioning your manhood, or have a Alpha male dominace problem. You buy a Saab or BMW, your a snob. And now, if you drive a Toyota, your going to be labled as a asexual pervert or something. (Hey, Robin Williams drove a toyota in One Hour Photo, and looked how strange that ended...)
In any case, while I winched at the homosexual overtones, and droped Toyota a few points down on my cool list, I still do get the overall advertisement's message. It's not a bad message and idea from toyota... Just a badly delivered message.

Beautiful. Restrained, graceful and exactly what a machine isn't.. rather human.
Genius.

#18 It's the Mazda MX-5 i think, which is also the girliest car ever. To quote a recent car show i saw on Discovery: "I wouldn't be caught dead driving it" as stated by a male car fanatic. It's the kind of affordable, "almost" performance sports car (but not quite) that women love and men would rather die then be seen in front of their friends in.
Just because it's well selling doesn't mean it's good. That kind of stuff sells good because it's cheap.
